We are happy to announce that on 27.09.2024, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, a contract for funding research teams within the framework of the Virtual Research Institute was signed for the project entitled: \u2018Personalized endothelial diagnostics in anticancer treatment; towards modern vasculo-oncology\u2019<\/em> [acronym: ADEVASCO (Aptamer-Based Diagnosis of Endothelium in Vasculooncology)]. The agreement was signed on the part of the Jagiellonian University by Prof Wojciech Macyk, UJ Vice-Chancellor for Science.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The leader of the research team is Prof. Stefan Ch\u0142opicki, PhD, Jagiellonian University, the project will be carried out in a consortium with five Polish research institutes (Hirszfeld Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy Polish Academy of Sciences in Wroc\u0142aw, Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research Polish Academy of Sciences in Olsztyn, Medical University of Gda\u0144sk, Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology in Gliwice and Warsaw University of Technology). The key project team includes: Prof Szczepan Zapotoczny, PhD\u00a0\/ Jagellonian University, Prof Joanna Wietrzyk, PhD\u00a0\/ Hirszfeld Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy Polish Academy of Sciences, Iwona Grabowska, PhD\u00a0\/ Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research Polish Academy of Sciences, Prof Micha\u0142 J. Markuszewski, PhD\u00a0\/ Medical University of Gda\u0144sk, Prof Ryszard T. Smole\u0144ski, PhD\u00a0\/ Medical University of Gda\u0144sk, Mateusz Tajstra, PhD\u00a0\/ National Research Institute of Oncology, Prof Mariusz Pietrzak, PhD\u00a0\/ Warsaw University of Technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The aim of the scientific activity of the interdisciplinary research team is to develop unique preclinical and clinical studies that will allow precise diagnostics of adverse effects of anticancer drugs on the vascular endothelium, and to develop a new electrochemical aptasensor technology, using original methodological solutions and aptamers, polymeric nanosheets, a dedicated POCT device with flow microcircuits. This entirely new technology detecting vascular endothelial dysfunction will provide a unique tool for endothelial companion diagnostics in the course of cancer therapies, and should become an important element of individualised risk stratification of cardiovascular complications of anticancer therapies in patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
