Invitation to Participate in the: Endothelial Biomedicine: An Interdisciplinary Course in Experimental Vascular Pharmacology (Part 1 – Lectures)
In the academic year 2025/2026, during the summer semester, the Jagiellonian Centre for Experimental Therapeutics (JCET) is pleased to invite doctoral and master’s students to participate in an advanced, interdisciplinary course in vascular endothelial biomedicine. The course provides a comprehensive introduction to the physiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology of the endothelium and blood vessels, with particular emphasis on experimental research approaches in cardiovascular sciences.
The course is coordinated by Prof. Stefan Chłopicki and Dr hab. Marta Smęda and conducted by a team of experienced researchers from JCET and affiliated institutions.
Course Objectives:
- To acquire fundamental knowledge of endothelial function and its role in the regulation of the cardiovascular system.
- To understand the pathophysiological and pharmacotherapeutic significance of endothelial dysfunction in cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular diseases.
- To gain practical experience with experimental methodologies, including in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo studies of endothelial and cardiovascular function.
- To develop skills in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific discussion within an interdisciplinary context.
Course Structure:
- Lecture (30 hours = 30 hours of lectures + 20 hours of exam preparation)
- Assessment: Written examination
- ECTS Credits: 2

For those interested, in the academic year 2026/2027, during the winter semester, we plan to launch the second part of the course in the form of practical classes (Practicum). The Practicum will include 30 hours of laboratory classes, 15 hours of independent work, and 5 hours dedicated to the preparation of a report as the form of course assessment (2 ECTS).
Once the procedures related to the launch of the Practicum have been completed, you will be informed about the possibility of enrollment. Participation in the Practicum requires prior completion of the course Vascular Endothelial Biomedicine: An Interdisciplinary Course in Experimental Vascular Pharmacology (Part 1 – Lectures).
